Mechanic

The City of Abbeville, Alabama is currently accepting applications/resumes for a Mechanic.

This position is under the immediate directions of the Street Superintendent. The successful candidate should possess a high school diploma or GED and have a valid driver’s license, with preference to Class A CDL.  Minimum of two years experience as a mechanic or any equivalent combination of education and experience, must provide your own tools.  Duties entail repairs and maintenance of city vehicles and equipment, maintains maintenance and repair records, orders repair parts, conducts safety inspections and routine building maintenance. Police Chief

The City of Abbeville, Alabama is currently accepting applications/resumes for a Police Chief.

This position is under administrative direction of the Mayor and the employee plans and coordinates all law enforcement activities of the City of Abbeville.  The successful candidate should possess a valid Alabama driver’s license, high school diploma or GED with specialized courses in police administration, finance/budgeting experience and a minimum of five years experience in law enforcement in a supervisory (lieutenant or above) position, preferred Police Chief experience and college degree in Criminal Law, completion of specialized courses in law enforcement/management, possession of APOSTC certificate or ability to obtain, completion of twenty hours annual state mandated training for police chief certification as well as firearms, meet requirements of APOSTC physical fitness test, supervisory, purchasing, communication and budgeting skills a must.  It is preferred that a person in this position be a resident of Abbeville but a maximum of 25-minute response time from Abbeville.  The City of Abbeville offers a competitive benefits package.  Salary range: $36,750.00 – $55,000.00 depending on experience.  Applications/resumes will be received until 5:00 p.m., May 1, 2020 at City Hall, 101 East Washington Street, or may be mailed to City Clerk, City of Abbeville, P.
